Maryland State Police arrest Baltimore man On child pornography charges

(BALTIMORE, MD) – Troopers arrested a Baltimore man Friday night after a multi-state investigation uncovered evidence supporting child pornography and related charges.

The suspect is identified as Neal Patrick Garith, 39, of Baltimore, Maryland. Garith is charged with 10 counts of possession of child pornography. He also faces child pornography charges in Oklahoma. He is being held without bail at the Baltimore City Detention Center.

In June 2022, the Maryland State Police Computer Crimes Unit received an investigative recommendation from Oklahoma Homeland Security Investigations to assume a detective-initiated child exploitation investigation of Garvin County, Oklahoma Sheriff’s Office. Garith was wanted on a pending arrest warrant in Oklahoma on charges of distributing child pornography, conspiracy to distribute child pornography and violations of the Computer Crimes Act of the Oklahoma.

At approximately 5:30 p.m. Friday, Maryland State Police, with the assistance of Baltimore Police and Homeland Security Investigations, arrested Garith at the 400 block of East 30e Baltimore Street. Investigators seized electronic devices from the suspect and during a subsequent search warrant at the suspect’s Baltimore residence. Preliminary forensic analysis by MSP digital forensic examiners revealed multiple child pornography files on the suspect’s electronic devices. Troopers continue to work with detectives from the Garvin County Sheriff’s Office as the investigation continues.

The Maryland State Police Computer Crimes Unit coordinates the Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. It is a combined law enforcement effort involving the Maryland Police Department, made possible in part by grant funds provided by the Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention, Youth and Youth Services. victims and by a federal grant from the United States Department of Justice. Task Force investigators are focused on identifying those involved in Internet child pornography and other related crimes that victimize children.
