Washington County Launches Electronic Plan Review

HAGERSTOWN, MD (October 21, 2022) – Washington County Government launches Electronic Plan Review to improve its land planning and permitting software known as Accela Automation. The upgrade will increase efficiency by allowing county divisions and departments to manage permits and land use plan review more efficiently while maintaining a high level of customer service and an increased level citizen access. The update will take effect on Monday, October 31, 2022.

Accela Automation with Electronic Plan Review provides an easier and more efficient solution for reviewing permits and land use plans. The following divisions and departments will be affected by the bonus:

Integrating e-PlanREVIEW with Accela Automation allows for expanded functionality and review capabilities for permitting and land-use planning projects, as well as increased citizen access and engagement, including :

  • Seamless integration into current software system
  • Concurrent agency reviews for a simpler and more efficient review process
  • Simple, visual management of plans and documents with progress tracking and version management
  • Consolidated feedback reports
  • A green, paperless solution to typical plan review processes
  • Ability to pay permit and land use review fees online
  • Expand application information in Citizen Access for public use

As of 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 27, 2022, paper-based land development project submissions will cease, and permit processing and other ministry services will be limited. Permit applications can be submitted on Fridays but will not be processed until the following Monday once the system is upgraded.

Online services through the Accela Citizen Access (ACA) website may be periodically unavailable beginning at close of business on Friday, October 28, 2022. All services will resume once the upgrade is complete.
